Our Cheese Specialists - The Cheese Byre
As some of our customers may be aware we like to use local suppliers when selecting our produce for Roastbox. One of our more popular desserts is our fantastic cheese selection, however as there is hundreds of Scottish cheeses to choose from we have left it down to the experts at The Cheese Byre.
The Cheese Byre was established in 2016, located in the city centre of Perth offering customers the chance to sample the best cheese and produce. Offering Cheese Cakes, platters, boxes or just individual cheeses as well as fabulous accompaniments from other local sellers.
We spoke to Veronika at The Cheese Byre to find out which cheeses we should be indulging in at this time of year. Veronika's top choices for us include:
- Lanark Blue from Errington Cheese is tasting absolute stunning at the moment and paired with a rich rhubarb chutney it just cuts through the blue cheese so well.
- Wee Comrie from Strathearn Cheese Company is lovely and buttery and even putting it through fresh green leaves dressed with some local rapeseed oil it just shines.
- St Andrew's Cheddar from St Andrew's Cheese Company is excellent just now with floral notes coming through and matched with some lovely Perthshire strawberries with a touch of sea salt on them it's a winner. This cheddar just recently won the best cheddar award at Royal Highland show.
